The Niagara Region Chapter has a wide variety of volunteer roles available; from one-time special events, to year-round planning committees, to working with individuals who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) - no matter your level of commitment, availability, background or education, we have a volunteer opportunity for you!

Special Events
Assist Autism Ontario - Niagara Region Chapter with one- time events (roles include registration, food set-up, cleanup, etc.).

Chapter Manager Assistant
The Chapter Manager is looking for an in-office volunteer to help with various tasks and projects such as, arranging guest speakers, calling for donations, World Autism Awareness Day t-shirt campaign, committee members, window cling campaign.
This role requires excellent organization skills and phone manners. You must be able to work from our office during the week during our office hours and be available a consistent amount of hours per week.

Book Club
Calling All Parents, Siblings, Professionals! We are asking YOU to bring awareness to the growing resources within our chapter.
To kick of our new year with a bang we have started a Book Club highlighting books each month, covering topics for parent and youth. If you are interested in reading a book for the upcoming month please contact Stephanie atadministration.niagara@autismontario.com.
Reading a book and writing a one-page synopsis will count towards volunteer hours!
Programs 2013
Calling all volunteers!!
We are seeking new staff and volunteers for our children, teen, and adult programs! Staff or volunteers will be needed to facilitate programs alongside the group leads and program assistant, working 1:1 with participants or in a group setting. Males are especially needed as Autism Spectrum Disorders have a ratio of 4:1, males to females. Therefore, male staff and volunteers are extremely valuable in order to better connect with our male participants.
Volunteering for programs requires an 11-week commitment beginning with one night of training, followed by 10 weeks of programs. This is a three-hour weekly commitment.
All Programs require volunteers.
Committees
The Niagara Region Chapter is comprised of committees that meet once monthly to support strategic initiatives, goals and objectives.
Current committees include:
- Awareness Committee - Consists of public relations, promotions and marketing. Includes assisting in the development and delivery of presentations to organizations, promoting World Autism Awareness Day and National Autism Awareness Month initiatives, etc.
- Chapter Leadership Council - To set and achieve goals for the entire Chapter in the following areas finances, programs and services, fundraising/donations, events and community engagement, etc. (See more details below).
- Fundraising Committee - To support and give direction to fundraising activities including third party events and the identification of prospects for events or donations.
- Human Resources Committee -Discusses staffing issues, health and safety, the Employment Standards Act, policies and procedures, accessibility and compliance, etc.
- Resource Committee – Advises Resource Centre materials and activities, including library support, membership information, the website and newsletter. This also includes the identification of other community resources for families.
Chapter Leadership Council
The CLC, comprised of dedicated volunteers, supports the strategic initiatives of the Chapter, helping our organization to achieve the Autism Ontario mission and vision and in meeting the unique needs of individuals we help.

Volunteer Presentation Group
This is the last call to be a part of the Volunteer Presentation Group!
This group will go to organizations, schools or businesses on behalf of Autism Ontario, and individuals with ASD, as requested. Only a few presentations are expected each month (if that). The goal is to inform interested parties of our services and programs, with a brief overview about autism.
You MUST be available during the day and have reliable transportation.
